Write, bike, hike, paddle, bird
As a child, I particularly enjoyed playing Game of the States, a board game that involved moving cargo around the country, with my dad. When not indoors contemplating the states I wanted to visit, I biked along Narragansett Bay and explored the urban wilds in my Rhode Island neighborhood. My interest in geography and deep fascination with the natural world evolved into concern for the planet. I obtained a BS in Environmental Studies from Brown University and an MS in Natural Resources from Cornell University. I worked on environmental education programs and as an environmental studies instructor at Prescott College. I shifted careers and became a school-based physical therapist in Tucson where I incorporate nature into therapy sessions. I feel most at home when outside and am especially drawn to mountains, deserts, and oceans. These experiences inspire my writing.
